Laura Jamieson

Founder and   Beginner's Coach

Laura has over 10 years of fencing experience and a Level 3 Coaching Award from the British Academy of Fencing. Known to some as "Mamma Braveheart" it is not only her role to coach the beginner's classes but also to make sure that everyone is happy. Having spent most of her life working with children Laura is used to taking on a motherly role but this doesn't mean she won't work you hard!
Laura first met her future husband, Bjarne, at a fencing club in 2011 when she had already been fencing for 3 years and it wasn't long before she picked him out as her coach. It was also Bjarne that first got Laura into coaching and they have been a great partnership ever since. Finally in 2018 Laura and Bjarne tied the knot!

Bjarne Jamieson

Head Coach

Bjarne is our most experienced coach with 30 years of fencing experience across Europe. He has worked with fencers of all levels, from beginners to international fencers since 1992. He holds a Diploma Epee Coaching Award (Level 5) from the British Academy of Fencing.
​ He is passionate about epee fencing and is always happy to give his time to those who wish to learn.

Bjarne has been instrumental in the development of the salle since 2015 and when he is not giving individual lessons to our fencers, he is usually trying to keep up with equipment maintenance or renovating our building!
